Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a Research Assistant/Data Manager position at Center for Big Data in Finance (BIGFI) at the Department of Finance. The Research Assistant/Data Manager role is a 1-year position with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2023, which can possibly be extended for several additional years (the center is currently funded through 2028).
The position
The BIGFI Center is looking for a Research Assistant/Data Manager, who will help us combine several data sets into a unified SQL database, manage this database, and develop it with new data sources. Further, the data manager will assist researchers in conducting empirical research using the data.
About BIGFI
The Center for Big Data in Finance (BIGFI) is a Center of Excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. BIGFI seeks to generate a fundamentally new understanding of finance based on the rapid increase in available data combined with the revolution in data science and computing power. The center has a number of leading researchers and a stimulating environment, and the center seeks to become a global hub for research on big data in finance. Our big finance data research will shed new light on financial markets’ role in promoting stability and economic activity, replication crises in finance, the role of financial markets in the green transition, the role of machine learning in finance, households’ obstacles for financial security, and how social networks affect financial markets.
Our expectations of you
The candidate must hold a master degree within data sciences, or equivalent work experience with database structures and handling of large datasets, have an interest in financial markets, have a professional proficiency in English (written and spoken), and the following skills:
* SQL programming, for example SQL Server
* Data management programming, preferably R, SAS, Python, or Matlab
* Good skills in collaboration
* Responsible and conscientious
* Self-motivated and able to work independently

Terms of employment

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee expects to shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.
Applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.
