The Department of International Economics, Government and Business (EGB) invites applications for a vacant position as
External Lecturer in Japanese Language
(for a period of three years)
The Department of International Economics, Government and Business (EGB) creates a vibrant international hub for research and research-based teaching exploring international business, economics and politics, as well as the intersection between them. The department has two principal focus areas of research: 'Business and Government' and 'International Business'. EGB conducts research within these principal focus areas and their interfaces and is uniquely positioned to generate research in the intersection of these two focus areas. At the same time our area- and regional-specific expertise allows us to address challenges faced by emerging and advanced economies. We deliver research-based teaching into undergraduate and graduate teaching in programs such as International Business, International Business and Politics, and International Business in Asia. Tasks
The External Lecturer will perform the following activities for BSc International Business in Asia: (I) implementation of the Language Level Verification test for incoming students, (II) examination of course material related to provision of Japanese language instruction by IBA partner universities, (III) Input into development of language related program regulations, and (IV) performance of re-take examinations for students returning from study abroad curriculum components. The External Lecturer is expected to support the IBA Study Board and Program Management in decisions related to parts of the curricula that relate to Japanese language instruction. The estimated workload varies and is estimated with approximately 100 hours per annum.
Qualifications
- A relevant Master’s degree in Japanese language and preferably a PhD degree.
- A high level of Japanese language proficiency required for university level teaching.
- Documented teaching experience for Japanese language at university level (in English taught programs).
- Experience with developing tests for various Japanese language levels.
Other skills
The applicant must possess good interpersonal skills. Communication, transparency, and regular knowledge sharing between all stakeholder is essential. The External Lecturer must be able to work independently and with development tasks.

Terms of employment
Salary and employment will be in accordance with the Cirkulære om aftale om Eksterne lektorer ved universiteter m.fl. under Uddannelses- og Forskningsministeriet. The maximum number of working hours per academic year is 500 and may vary as needed in individual semesters. Remuneration is based on the number of hours, which is determined twice a year.
When employed as a part-time lecturer you must take an introductory course on university teaching organised by CBS.
You will be assigned a researcher at the department as your professional contact person. You are expected to participate in professional events relevant to your teaching and you will also be part of the department’s network of part-time lecturers.
