Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in International Political Economy and the Green Transition at the Department of Organization. The position is for 36 months and the expected start date is 1 March 2024.

This position is partly supported by the NAVIGATOR project, ´The EU Navigating Multilateral Cooperation´, a Horizon Europe project. The project is coordinated at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and the CBS lead is Professor MSO Eleni Tsingou, who is responsible for the workpackage on Finance and Tax.

The project aims to address questions about how the EU should navigate the increasingly complex institutional spaces of global governance to advance a rules-based international order and what factors should be emphasized when considering which institutions to strengthen, which to reform, and which to by-pass when revitalizing multilateralism. NAVIGATOR explore institutional variations on six policy issues – climate change, digitalisation, finance/tax, health, migration, and security – to identify what institutional mixes enable the EU to have an optimal impact on a given policy issue. The post-doctoral fellow is expected to produce original research work at the intersection of the finance/tax and climate change workpackages.
The Post-Doctoral Fellow has both research and teaching obligations (66% research, 34% teaching).

The Department of Organization (IOA) pursues a problem-oriented, business in society approach to understanding and intervening in organizations and organizational life. Our research is focused upon organizing processes and their outcomes, and driven by an interest in organization and management as a practical, situated, contested and changing matter. Our approach is interdisciplinary and combines social-scientific traditions such as organization theory, sociology, ethnography, political economy, and social psychology. Methodologically, our research is predominantly qualitative and often involves case study and fieldwork methodology.

Teaching responsibilities at the Department comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching as well as teaching in post-experience and doctoral education. Examples include:

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department. The successful applicant is obliged to participate in the assistant professor program at CBS on teaching principles and methods in order to fulfill the pedagogical requirements at the end of the term of employment as assistant professor.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education
  • Individual and group-based research meeting high international standards
  • Promoting CBS’s academic reputation
  • Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School
  • Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the department and to CBS-wide tasks
  • Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular
  • Research, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline
  • Responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching
  • Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.

The Post-Doctoral Fellow is expected to contribute to the development and application of the research of the department’s research areas and to maintain and strengthen CBS’s international research position.

Qualification
The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. Those who are submitting within six months must provide a statement from their primary advisor attesting to the viability of the submission date. Emphasis is placed on the applicant’s research potential, which means that a researcher with a large research potential may be preferred to a researcher with a large research production.

The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organization.

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
