Copenhagen Business School invites applications for two Art-Based Research Assistants with a focus on video production and storytelling, craft, technologies and Gen-AI at the Department of Business Humanities and Law.

The positions are a two-year contract connected to the Horizon 2022 research project “Hephaestus: Heritage in EuroPe: New tecHnologies in crAft for prEserving and innovaTing fUtureS”. The workload is 18.5 hours per week. The expected starting date is 15/11/2024.

Core research areas of the Department of Business Humanities and Law are organized into different research Units: Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership; Governance, Culture and Learning; and CBS Law. Faculty within these groups have research backgrounds in all areas of law, political science, sociology, philosophy, history, anthropology, literature, theology, aesthetics, design and innovation, tourism and leisure management, cultural economics, leadership and strategy, pedagogic study, and other areas The department’s work is centered on addressing contemporary challenges faced by business and society today, leveraging insights from the humanities, social sciences, and law.

The position involves responsibilities connected to various artistic endeavors, including installations, music composition, field recording, video production, storytelling, and soundscape design. A solid understanding of art-based research methods, such as visual arts and critical fabulations and other innovative practices is essential.

The research area also focuses on integrating traditional crafts with innovative and creative technologies, using art to enhance qualitative and quantitative research. This is achieved through exhibitions, events, and art installations that aim to engage and stimulate diverse audiences. Familiarity with the four ecosystems of the Horizon Europe Hephaestus project - Dals Långed, Venice, Bornholm, and the Bassano del Grappa region - is an advantage, as they serve as key research focal points exploring the intersections of society, business, technology, and craftsmanship.

Qualifications
The candidate should possess a master’s degree, or equivalent qualifications and have a professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Special qualifications are of advantage:

  • Generative AI and AI Model Training: Experience in the creation and training of AI models, particularly in artistic and research contexts.
  • Film Editing and Directing: Proven expertise in film editing and directing, with a preference for those with experience in documentary filmmaking and narrative storytelling.
  • Digital Audio and Sound Production: Advanced skills in digital audio production, soundscape design, and other related areas that contribute to immersive and innovative artistic experiences.
  • Craftsmanship Experience: Hands-on experience with traditional crafts, understanding their cultural significance, and ability to integrate them into contemporary research and artistic practices.

Terms of employment
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee expects to shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

Applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
